Formé en 1970 par Terry et Gay Woods, ex-membres de Steeleye Span, The Woods Band est un groupe irlandais de folk rock. Ils enregistrent leur unique album éponyme en septembre 1971 aux Morgan Studios de Londres, produit par Tony Reeves. L'album mêle habilement instruments traditionnels (concertina, dulcimer, bodhrán) et rock progressif, avec des compositions originales et des airs traditionnels irlandais. Bien que salué par la critique, l'album n'a pas rencontré un grand succès commercial, en partie en raison de la faillite du label Greenwich Gramophone Company peu après sa sortie.Après la dissolution du groupe, Terry et Gay Woods poursuivent leur carrière musicale sous le nom de Gay & Terry Woods.

Formed in 1970 by Terry and Gay Woods, former members of Steeleye Span, The Woods Band was an Irish folk rock group. They recorded their only self-titled album in September 1971 at Morgan Studios in London, produced by Tony Reeves. The album skillfully blends traditional instruments (concertina, dulcimer, bodhrán) with progressive rock, featuring original compositions and traditional Irish airs. Although critically acclaimed, the album did not achieve significant commercial success, partly due to the bankruptcy of the Greenwich Gramophone Company shortly after its release. Following the band's dissolution, Terry and Gay Woods continued their musical career under the name Gay & Terry Woods.
