Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Litter was a garage rock band formed in 1966. They quickly became a staple of the American underground scene thanks to electrifying performances and a raw sound that bridged garage rock, early hard rock, and acid rock. After two cult albums, Distortions (1967) and $100 Fine (1968), the band shifted toward a heavier and more psychedelic sound with Emerge, their third LP released in 1969 on ABC Records. The album delivers muscular, edgy rock infused with raw energy and a more ambitious production. The Litter is often recognized as a forerunner of American hard rock.
