Formé en 1970 à Eureka, Californie, The Wackers est un groupe de folk rock influencé par la British Invasion, notamment les Beatles et les Byrds. The band consisted of Bob Segarini (vocals, guitar), Randy Bishop (guitar, bass, keyboards), Michael Stull (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Bill "Kootch" Trochim (bass), and Spencer Earnshaw (drums). They signed with Elektra Records, and their debut album, Wackering Heights, produced by Gary Usher, features rich vocal harmonies and acoustic arrangements, with tracks like "Travelin' Time" and "Body Go Round" contributing to their initial success.Although the album did not achieve significant commercial success, it laid the foundation for their distinctive style.
