Alamo était un groupe de rock sudiste et psychédélique originaire de Memphis, Tennessee. Fondé par le guitariste Larry Raspberry, ex-membre des Gentrys, le groupe sort un unique album éponyme en 1971 sur le label Atlantic/Cotillion. Ce disque, aujourd’hui culte parmi les amateurs de rock 70s, mélange blues-rock, boogie, rock sudiste et touches psychédéliques. On y retrouve une énergie brute, des riffs puissants, des claviers dynamiques et un chant expressif. Malgré une excellente qualité musicale et une production solide, Alamo ne connaîtra pas de suite discographique, le groupe se séparant peu après la sortie de l’album. Leur contribution reste un joyau méconnu de la scène rock américaine du début des années 70.

Alamo was a southern rock and psychedelic band from Memphis, Tennessee. Formed by guitarist Larry Raspberry, formerly of The Gentrys, the band released a single self-titled album in 1971 on Atlantic/Cotillion Records. The album, now a cult favorite among 70s rock enthusiasts, blends blues-rock, boogie, southern rock, and psychedelic influences. It features raw energy, powerful riffs, vibrant keyboards, and expressive vocals. Despite the strong musicianship and solid production, Alamo disbanded shortly after the release and left no further recordings. Their lone album remains an underrated gem of early 70s American rock.
