Carol Ann Grimes, née en 1944 à Lewisham, Londres, est une chanteuse britannique dont la voix puissante et émotive a marqué le paysage musical. D’origine modeste, elle a grandi avec une passion pour le chant, influencée par le jazz, la soul américaine, le blues et la poésie de la rue londonienne. Sa voix brute et émotive a souvent été comparée à celles de Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, et Aretha Franklin, bien qu’elle ait toujours suivi un chemin artistique unique, en dehors des formats commerciaux.

Les débuts :
