Jack Traylor était un auteur-compositeur-interprète américain actif dans la scène folk-rock californienne des années 60-70. Moins connu que des figures comme Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young ou Jefferson Airplane, Traylor évoluait dans un univers musical similaire et a croisé plusieurs grandes figures de l'époque.

Ancien enseignant d’anglais à San José, en Californie, Traylor forme un groupe avec certains de ses élèves, donnant ainsi naissance à Steelwind, un groupe vocal féminin composé de Brenda Traylor (sa femme), Cory Lerios (futur membre de Pablo Cruise), Larry Tolbert, et d'autres musiciens talentueux.

Child of Nature (1973) est leur unique album et reste un témoignage précieux du folk psychédélique américain, souvent recherché par les collectionneurs de vinyles. L’album allie folk-rock pastoral, accents country et blues, avec des harmonies vocales féminines envoûtantes. Son ambiance, marquée par le retour à la nature et les idéaux hippies, est un reflet des années 60 et 70.

🇺🇸 Biography (English)

Jack Traylor was an American singer-songwriter active in the Californian folk-rock scene of the late 60s and 70s. While his name may not be as famous as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or Jefferson Airplane, Traylor shared the same musical world and rubbed shoulders with several key figures of the era.

An English teacher in San Jose, California, Traylor formed a band with some of his talented students, leading to the creation of Steelwind, a female vocal group that included his wife, Brenda Traylor, Cory Lerios (who would later found Pablo Cruise), Larry Tolbert, and other musicians.

Child of Nature (1973) is their only album, and it has become a rare gem of American psychedelic folk, highly sought after by vinyl collectors. The album blends pastoral folk-rock, country, and blues, with captivating female vocal harmonies. Its atmosphere, heavily influenced by the return to nature and spiritual awakening of the late 60s, captures the essence of the hippie ideals of the time.

While the album didn’t achieve commercial success upon its initial release, it has since gained popularity through reissues in the 2000s, making it a much-coveted piece of vinyl.
