A.B. Skhy est un groupe de blues-rock psychédélique originaire de Milwaukee (Wisconsin), formé à la fin des années 60. Le nom étrange du groupe est une variante phonétique de "Abbey Sky", évoquant une spiritualité et un délire psychédélique typiques de l'époque.
Le groupe était mené par :
Howard Wales – claviériste virtuose, connu pour son jeu libre et jazzy, qui collaborera plus tard avec Jerry Garcia des Grateful Dead.
Jim Marcotte – guitare et chant.
Dennis Geyer – guitare et chant également.
Rick Jaeger – batterie.
James "Curley" Cooke – guitare (ancien membre du Steve Miller Band).
Ron "Harpo" Johnson – basse.
A.B. Skhy se distingue par l'absence de guitare solo centrale, préférant un son dominé par l'orgue Hammond, créant ainsi une ambiance dense et psychédélique, à la croisée du blues, du jazz et du rock progressif.
En 1970, après un premier album éponyme en 1969, le groupe publie Ramblin’ On, leur second et dernier album. Celui-ci adopte une approche plus électrique et bluesy, marquant une évolution vers un son plus “terre-à-terre”, mais conserve une touche psychédélique distincte.
Ramblin’ On est produit par Kim Fowley, célèbre pour ses productions excentriques et ses liens avec la scène underground. L'album est parsemé de cuivres, de solos d'orgue et de grooves qui résonnent profondément avec l'ère post-Woodstock, bien que son succès commercial soit resté limité à sa sortie.

A.B. Skhy was a psychedelic blues-rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formed in the late 1960s. The band's unusual name is a phonetic variant of "Abbey Sky," evoking a sense of spirituality and psychedelic delirium, in line with the era.
The band was led by:
Howard Wales – virtuoso keyboardist known for his free-form, jazzy playing, who would later collaborate with Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.
Jim Marcotte – guitar and vocals.
Dennis Geyer – guitar and vocals.
Rick Jaeger – drums.
James "Curley" Cooke – guitar (formerly with the Steve Miller Band).
Ron "Harpo" Johnson – bass.
A.B. Skhy distinguished themselves by the absence of a central lead guitar, instead focusing on the Hammond organ to create a dense, psychedelic atmosphere that blended blues, jazz, and progressive rock.
In 1970, following their self-titled debut in 1969, the band released Ramblin’ On, their second and final album. This album took a more electric and bluesy direction, with a more "earthy" sound, yet still retained their signature psychedelic flair.
Ramblin’ On was produced by Kim Fowley, known for his eccentric productions and connections to the underground scene. The album features brass sections, organ solos, and grooves that strongly resonate with the post-Woodstock era, though it did not achieve widespread commercial success.
