Bunky & Jake, formé de Andrea “Bunky” Skinner (chant) et Allan “Jake” Jacobs (guitare, chant, compositions), est un duo musical qui a émergé dans le Greenwich Village à New York au début des années 60. Influencés par la scène folk revival, leur style est éclectique, mêlant folk urbain, jazz cool, blues, pop baroque, rock psychédélique et doo-wop. Leur musique, exubérante et intime, s’inspire de l’effervescence créative de l’époque, tout en adoptant une approche originale et débridée.

Jake Jacobs, auparavant membre du groupe psyché-garage The Magicians, a apporté une dimension expérimentale et audacieuse à leurs compositions. En 1968, le duo signe sur Mercury Records et sort son premier album éponyme. En 1969, ils enchaînent avec L.A.M.F. (acronyme de “Like A Mother F*er”), un album qui, bien que peu reconnu à sa sortie, est désormais considéré comme un chef-d'œuvre culte du rock psychédélique et de la scène folk des années 60.

Leur musique se caractérise par des arrangements simples mais percutants, une alchimie vocale fascinante et des textes souvent empreints d’humour et de satire.

Bunky & Jake, consisting of Andrea “Bunky” Skinner (vocals) and Allan “Jake” Jacobs (guitar, vocals, compositions), emerged from the vibrant Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 60s. Influenced by the folk revival, their style is eclectic, blending urban folk, cool jazz, blues, baroque pop, psychedelic rock, and doo-wop. Their music is both exuberant and intimate, reflecting the creative energy of the time with an original and unrestrained approach.

Jake Jacobs, formerly a member of the psych-garage band The Magicians, infused their compositions with an experimental and bold edge. In 1968, the duo signed with Mercury Records and released their debut self-titled album. In 1969, they followed with L.A.M.F. (short for “Like A Mother F*er”), an album that, while initially underappreciated, is now regarded as a cult masterpiece of psychedelic rock and 60s folk.

Their music is marked by simple yet striking arrangements, captivating vocal chemistry, and lyrics often filled with humor and satire.
