Rosalie Sorrels, née Rosalie Ann Stringfellow le 24 juin 1933 à Boise, Idaho, est une figure marquante du folk américain, bien que souvent restée dans l’ombre de grandes icônes comme Joan Baez ou Judy Collins. Elle nous quitte en 2017, laissant derrière elle un héritage d’une rare authenticité, où s’entrelacent vie, douleur, amour, humour et engagement.

Élevant seule ses cinq enfants après un divorce dans les années 50 et 60, Rosalie sillonne les États-Unis en auto-stop et en bus, chantant dans des cafés, des festivals et des universités. She passed away in 2017, leaving behind a legacy marked by rare authenticity, intertwining life, pain, love, humor, and activism.

After divorcing in the 1950s and 1960s, Rosalie raised her five children alone while hitchhiking across the United States to sing in cafes, festivals, and universities. A poet, feminist, and nonconformist, she always embraced a free voice. She also became an archivist of folklore, collecting songs and oral traditions while writing her own deeply human autobiographical lyrics.
