The Globe Sessions est le troisième album studio de Sheryl Crow, sorti en 1998. Cet album marque un tournant plus personnel et introspectif dans sa carrière, mêlant rock, folk et influences blues. Produit par Sheryl Crow elle-même, il est porté par une écriture plus mature et des arrangements travaillés, notamment sur des titres comme My Favorite Mistake, There Goes the Neighborhood et Sweet Child o’ Mine (reprise de Guns N' Roses). Cet opus a été salué par la critique et lui a valu plusieurs nominations aux Grammy Awards, renforçant sa place dans la scène rock féminine des années 90.

Après un second album riche et plus ou moins sous-estimé par le grand public, Sheryl CROW revient en grande pompe avec ce nouvel opus. Notez qu'en excellente musicienne, elle touche à tous les instruments : guitare, claviers, harmonica... Un équilibre que l'on retrouve aussi dans la musique, sous une autre forme. Certes, l'album est rock, noir, parfois sale, et les moindres prétextes aux montées de voix de la belle sonnent comme des cris de révolte. Mais n'oublions pas que les guitares acoustiques y sont aussi importantes que les électriques, et que miss Sheryl pèse encore le pour et le contre par cette volonté de contraste. Ainsi, le début du disque se veut très roots dans la guitare bluesy de 'My Favorite Mistake', l'orgue Hammond se fait malicieux, mais il y a ce ton pop qui rend la chanson chaleureuse -et sensuelle, si l'on parle de la voix-, en plus d'en faire un des tubes qui tiendront leurs promesses.
