Five years before handing Iggy Pop saddle musically producing two albums The Idiot and Lust For Life (1977), and a year before landing on the cover of his own Pin Ups in the company of supermodel Twiggy (1973), Bowie s 'invented an alter ego, crossing the name of a fashion of the time store (At Ziggy) and an American singer of the 60s (the Legendary Stardust Cowboy). Ziggy Stardust is a concept album rather hallucinated in which is told the story of a bisexual star from the future. But it is not the concept that holds the most attention but the incredible quality of the compositions. Glam rock gets its pedigree with Ziggy. But also pop, the songs fit in the head and instantly reveal an unsuspected depth.

It starts with 'Five Years' where Ziggy tells us that the earth has more than 5 years before its end due to lack of natural resources. Track oozing emotion on Ziggy which already makes us run our first tears with a final full of the rage of despair. On 'Mounting Daydream' Ziggy turns into rock star well assisted by Mick Ronson and its devastating riff. 'Starman' slows the pace and allows Ziggy to give hope to the Earth message. It's a perfect pop song, as is the melancholic 'Lady Stardust'. 'Hang On To Yourself' Ziggy will start in a glam punk style before a bridge early. Here we are in the final trio album, and what a trio! First, 'Ziggy Stardust' which is still the perfect adjective that comes to us. Then, the very rock 'Suffragette City' and 'Ohhh, Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am! 'Worship song in the end. And to conclude the album, 'Rock' n 'Roll Suicide' which completes the journey of the most beautiful way.

Cinq ans avant de remettre Iggy Pop en selle musicalement en produisant ses deux albums The Idiot et Lust For Life (1977), et un an avant de poser sur la pochette de son propre Pin Ups en compagnie du mannequin Twiggy (1973), Bowie s'inventait un alter ego, croisement du nom d'un magasin de mode de l'époque (Chez Ziggy) et d'un chanteur américain des années 60 (The Legendary Stardust Cowboy). Ziggy Stardust est un concept album plutôt halluciné dans lequel est contée l’histoire d'une star bisexuelle venant du futur. Mais ce n’est pas le concept qui retient le plus l'attention mais plutôt la qualité incroyable des compositions. Le glam-rock obtient ses lettres de noblesses grâce à Ziggy. Mais la pop aussi, les chansons rentrent dans la tête instantanément et révèlent une profondeur insoupçonnée. Le tout commence avec 'Five Years' où Ziggy nous annonce que la terre n’a plus que 5 ans avant sa fin par manque de ressources naturelles. Piste suintant l’émotion sur laquelle Ziggy nous fait déjà couler nos premières larmes avec un final empli de la rage du désespoir. Sur 'Montage Daydream', Ziggy se mue en rock star bien aidée par Mick Ronson et son riff dévastateur. 'Starman' ralentit le rythme et permet à Ziggy de donner un message d’espoir à la Terre. C’est une chanson pop parfaite, tout comme l’est la mélancolique 'Lady Stardust'. 'Hang On To Yourself' verra Ziggy repartir dans un style plus glam avant un pont punk avant l’heure. Nous voilà arrivés au trio final de l’album, et quel trio ! Tout d’abord, 'Ziggy Stardust' où parfait est encore l’adjectif qui nous vient. Ensuite, la très rock 'Suffragette City' et son 'Ohhh, Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am! ' culte en fin de chanson. Et pour conclure l’album, 'Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide' qui achève le voyage de la plus belle des manières.
