Atlee is a rock band from California formed in 1970 by Atley 'Atlee' Yeager. The line up was then composed of Yeager, on bass and vocals, Bruce Schaffer on keyboards, Michael Stevens on guitar and Donald John Francis (Don Francisco), a native of New York, on drums (formerly of Crowfoot). This acrobatic singing drummer and extremely confident took his stage name from the 17th century religious poet Placido Don Francisco, whose ministry had trained the Aztecs. Atlee was, of course, a minor group when the American Hard Rock took off. Influenced by many British bands embedded in the Blues, plus a legion of hard-core American formations that were there at the time as, for example, Creedence, Atomic Rooster, Blue Cheer or Banchee. Before that however, Yeager was part of another group called Damon, a psychedelic rock band who released an album in 1970 titled Song Of A Gypsy.

Avant cela toutefois, Yeager avait fait partie d'un autre groupe appelé Damon, une formation plus rock psychédélique qui avait sorti un album en 1970 intitulé Song Of A Gypsy.
