In six years, Elton has achieved everything, everything got. It is now on top of the world, representing 2% of the music market all by itself! Having founded his own record label (Rocket Records) and keeping only Davey Johnstone and Ray Cooper in his line-up, Elton publishes this second double album (the first was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road), the extremely high musical content, that is a true end its classic period. Taut as a violin string, Elton powder the nose and unduly impact on his music are more evident here than elsewhere (the funky and frenetic One Horse Town). Last album produced by Gus Dudgeon, Blue Moves album is Elton John's most in tune with the times. With precisely a clinical production (drums and bass mixed well before), he boldly ahead of the lands of the black music of the mid-70's (that Boogie Pilgrim to Stevie Wonder), fearing to graze or disco (Crazy Water) or the euphoric dance floors funkiest (Bite Your Lip), but obviously reached the total class with ballads: Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word (become a classic huge), the Cage Songbird (dedicated to Edith Piaf) and - above all - emotion that masterpiece, this song of songs, one of the finest short while Elton John songs: Tonight. A grandiose album that touches the masterpiece, and little.
