Formé en 1967, Samurai est un groupe de rock progressif japonais qui a fusionné des éléments de hard rock, de psychédélisme et de musique traditionnelle japonaise. Dirigé par le chanteur et flûtiste Miki Curtis, le groupe a enregistré deux albums : Samurai (1970) et Kappa (1971). Le premier album, également connu sous le nom de Green Tea, est un double LP qui mélange des influences de groupes tels que Deep Purple et King Crimson avec des instruments traditionnels japonais comme le koto et des touches de jazz. Le groupe a tourné en Europe, notamment en Italie, et a enregistré à Londres, où ils ont collaboré avec des musiciens européens. Après la dissolution du groupe, certains membres ont poursuivi des carrières musicales, Tetsu Yamauchi jouant plus tard avec Free et The Faces.

Formed in 1967, Samurai was a Japanese progressive rock band that blended elements of hard rock, psychedelia, and traditional Japanese music. Led by vocalist and flautist Miki Curtis, the band recorded two albums: Samurai (1970) and Kappa (1971). The debut album, also known as Green Tea, is a double LP that combines influences from bands like Deep Purple and King Crimson with traditional Japanese instruments such as the koto and jazz touches. The band toured Europe, including Italy, and recorded in London, collaborating with European musicians. Following the band's dissolution, some members pursued music careers, with Tetsu Yamauchi later playing with Free and The Faces.
