Formé à Preston, Lancashire, en 1966, Little Free Rock est un groupe britannique de rock psychédélique et hard rock.Issu de l'évolution du groupe Purple Haze, la formation initiale se compose de :
Peter Illingworth – guitare solo, chant
Frank Newbold – basse, chant
Paul Varley – batterie
Leur premier album éponyme, sorti en novembre 1969 sur le label Transatlantic, reflète une fusion de blues psychédélique et de rock dur. L'album a été enregistré aux Morgan Studios à Londres, produit par Eddie Sandham et avec l'ingénieur Mike Bobak. Il se distingue par des compositions originales telles que "Lost Lonely", "Blud", "Tingle" et "Age of Chivalry", ainsi qu'une reprise de "Making Time" de The Creation.
Après la sortie de l'album, la formation a évolué, intégrant des percussionnistes africains tels que "Lord" Eric Carboo et des bassistes comme John Taylor (ancien membre de Killing Floor). Cette nouvelle configuration a donné naissance à des enregistrements inédits, notamment dans l'album Nirvanating Nervesounds, qui présente des sessions de 1971 produites par Robert Stigwood.

Their self-titled debut album, released in November 1969 on the Transatlantic label, reflects a blend of psychedelic blues and hard rock.
