Alex Taylor (1947–1993) was the older brother of James, Livingston, Kate, and Hugh Taylor, part of a prominent musical family. Born in Boston, he grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he developed a passion for folk music, blues, and Southern rock. Influenced by artists like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and Lead Belly, he began playing guitar at a young age. In 1970, he signed with Capricorn Records and recorded his debut album, With Friends and Neighbors, in 1971 in Macon, Georgia. The album features a blend of Southern rock and blues, including covers of songs by his brothers James and Livingston, as well as classic tracks from the genre. Although the album lacks original compositions, it showcases his interpretive skills and ability to infuse raw energy into the songs.
