Formé en 1969 à Moreton, Essex, Humble Pie est l'un des premiers supergroupes britanniques, réunissant Steve Marriott (ex-Small Faces), Peter Frampton (ex-The Herd), Greg Ridley (ex-Spooky Tooth) et Jerry Shirley (ex-Apostolic Intervention). Le groupe se distingue par son mélange de blues, de rock et de soul, créant un son unique qui les propulse sur la scène internationale.
En mars 1971, Humble Pie sort son quatrième album studio, Rock On, enregistré aux Olympic Studios de Londres. Cet album marque un tournant dans leur carrière, avec des compositions originales telles que "Stone Cold Fever" et des reprises de classiques du blues comme "Rollin' Stone" de Muddy Waters. L'album est salué pour sa fusion de styles et la puissance de ses performances.
Cependant, peu après l'enregistrement de Rock On, Peter Frampton quitte le groupe pour poursuivre une carrière solo. Il est remplacé par Clem Clempson (ex-Colosseum), et le groupe continue son ascension avec la sortie de l'album live Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore en novembre 1971, qui devient leur premier grand succès commercial.

Formed in 1969 in Moreton, Essex, Humble Pie was one of the first British supergroups, bringing together Steve Marriott (ex-Small Faces), Peter Frampton (ex-The Herd), Greg Ridley (ex-Spooky Tooth), and Jerry Shirley (ex-Apostolic Intervention). The band distinguished itself with a blend of blues, rock, and soul, creating a unique sound that propelled them onto the international stage.
In March 1971, Humble Pie released their fourth studio album, Rock On, recorded at Olympic Studios in London. This album marked a turning point in their career, featuring original compositions like "Stone Cold Fever" and covers of blues classics such as Muddy Waters' "Rollin' Stone." The album was praised for its fusion of styles and the power of its performances.
However, shortly after recording Rock On, Peter Frampton left the band to pursue a solo career. He was replaced by Clem Clempson (ex-Colosseum), and the band continued their ascent with the release of the live album Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore in November 1971, which became their first major commercial success.
