Night Sun est un groupe de hard rock progressif originaire de Mannheim, en Allemagne, formé en 1970. Issus du groupe de jazz Take Five, les membres fondateurs étaient Bruno Schaab (chant, basse), Walter Kirchgessner (guitare), Knut Rössler (orgue, piano, trompette, basson) et Ulrich Staudt (batterie). Le groupe a rapidement évolué vers un style plus lourd et plus progressif, influencé par Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin et Black Sabbath. En 1972, ils enregistrent leur unique album, Mournin’, produit par Conny Plank au Windrose Studio de Hambourg. Cet album est reconnu pour sa fusion unique de hard rock, de psychédélisme et de progressif, avec des éléments de jazz et des expérimentations sonores .

Night Sun was a progressive hard rock band from Mannheim, Germany, formed in 1970. Evolving from the jazz group Take Five, the founding members were Bruno Schaab (vocals, bass), Walter Kirchgessner (guitar), Knut Rössler (organ, piano, trumpet, bassoon), and Ulrich Staudt (drums). The band quickly shifted towards a heavier, more progressive style influenced by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath. In 1972, they recorded their sole album, Mournin’, produced by Conny Plank at Windrose Studio in Hamburg. This album is noted for its unique blend of hard rock, psychedelia, and progressive elements, with touches of jazz and sonic experimentation .
