Birtha est un groupe de rock entièrement féminin formé en 1968 à Los Angeles. Composé de Shele Pinizzotto (guitare, chant), Rosemary Butler (basse, chant), Sherry Hagler (claviers, chant) et Olivia "Liver" Favela (batterie, chant), le groupe s'est distingué par son énergie et son talent dans un univers musical dominé par les hommes. Leur premier album éponyme, Birtha, est sorti en 1972 sous le label Dunhill Records, produit par Gabriel Mekler. L'album mélange hard rock, funk et blues, avec des harmonies vocales puissantes et des performances instrumentales solides. Bien que le groupe n'ait pas rencontré un succès commercial massif, il a marqué les esprits par sa présence scénique et son engagement, ouvrant la voie à d'autres formations féminines dans le rock. Birtha was an all-female rock band formed in 1968 in Los Angeles, consisting of Shele Pinizzotto (guitar, vocals), Rosemary Butler (bass, vocals), Sherry Hagler (keyboards, vocals), and Olivia "Liver" Favela (drums, vocals). Their self-titled debut album, Birtha, was released in 1972 on Dunhill Records, produced by Gabriel Mekler. The album showcases a blend of hard rock, funk, and blues, featuring strong vocal harmonies and solid instrumental performances. Although the band didn't achieve massive commercial success, they made a significant impact with their stage presence and commitment, paving the way for other female rock bands. Birtha disbanded in 1975 but remains a reference point for 1970s rock enthusiasts .
