Anonymous est un groupe américain de rock psychédélique formé au milieu des années 1970 à Indianapolis, Indiana. Le groupe est né des cendres de Sir Winston and the Commons, une formation garage-rock des années 60. Le guitariste et compositeur Ron Matelic, accompagné du batteur John Medvescek, du bassiste Glenn Weaver et de la chanteuse Marsha Rollings, a enregistré l'album Inside the Shadow en 1976. Initialement pressé à seulement 300 exemplaires, cet album est devenu une pièce de collection prisée des amateurs de rock psychédélique.
L'album se distingue par ses harmonies vocales soignées, ses guitares 12 cordes inspirées des Byrds et une ambiance onirique rappelant Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young ou Jefferson Airplane . Anonymous was an American psychedelic rock band formed in the mid-1970s in Indianapolis, Indiana. Emerging from the remnants of the 1960s garage-rock band Sir Winston and the Commons, guitarist and songwriter Ron Matelic, along with drummer John Medvescek, bassist Glenn Weaver, and vocalist Marsha Rollings, recorded the album Inside the Shadow in 1976. Initially pressed in only 300 copies, the album has become a sought-after collector's item among psychedelic rock enthusiasts .
The album is noted for its intricate vocal harmonies, Byrds-inspired 12-string guitar work, and a dreamy atmosphere reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or Jefferson Airplane . Despite modest production and limited distribution, Inside the Shadow is now regarded as a gem of 1970s American psychedelic rock.
