Le Downchild Blues Band est un groupe de blues canadien fondé en 1969 à Toronto par les frères Donnie et Richard "Hock" Walsh. The Downchild Blues Band is a Canadian blues band formed in 1969 in Toronto by brothers Donnie and Richard "Hock" Walsh. Their debut album, Bootleg, was recorded in 1971 in an improvised studio at Rochdale College in Toronto, using rudimentary equipment. Produced independently, the album was hand-distributed by the band before catching the attention of RCA Records Canada, which acquired it for broader distribution. It reached number 62 on the Canadian charts in May 1972
This album is recognized as one of the first independent releases in Canada, capturing the raw energy and authenticity of Chicago blues, with a distinctive horn section. It has influenced many artists and is considered a milestone in the history of Canadian blues.
