Ancient Grease était un groupe de hard rock psychédélique gallois formé en 1967 sous le nom de Strawberry Dust. Le groupe était composé de Gareth « Morty » Mortimer (chant), Graham Hedley-Williams (guitare), Jack Bass (basse) et Dick Owen (batterie). Ils ont été repérés par John Weathers, batteur d'Eyes of Blue, qui les a convaincus de signer avec le label Mercury. Sous le nom modifié d'Ancient Grease, ils ont enregistré leur unique album, Women and Children First, sorti en 1970. L'album présente un mélange de hard rock, de blues, de psychédélisme et de rock progressif, avec des influences de groupes tels que Cream, The Kinks et The Doors. Bien que l'album n'ait pas rencontré un grand succès commercial à sa sortie, il est aujourd'hui considéré comme un classique du genre.

Ancient Grease was a Welsh hard psychedelic rock band formed in 1967 under the name Strawberry Dust. The band consisted of Gareth "Morty" Mortimer (vocals), Graham Hedley-Williams (guitar), Jack Bass (bass), and Dick Owen (drums). They were discovered by John Weathers, drummer of Eyes of Blue, who persuaded them to sign with Mercury Records. Under the modified name Ancient Grease, they recorded their sole album, Women and Children First, released in 1970. The album features a blend of hard rock, blues, psychedelia, and progressive rock, with influences from bands like Cream, The Kinks, and The Doors. Although the album did not achieve significant commercial success upon release, it is now regarded as a classic of the genre.
