Billy Cox, bassiste américain, est surtout connu pour sa collaboration avec Jimi Hendrix dans les groupes Band of Gypsys et Gypsy Sun & Rainbows. Après la mort de Hendrix en 1970, Cox forme le groupe Billy Cox’s Nitro Function avec la guitariste et chanteuse Char Vinnedge et le batteur Robert Tarrant. En 1971, ils enregistrent leur unique album, Nitro Function, un mélange de rock psychédélique, de blues et de soul. L'album est produit par Lelan Rogers et présente des compositions originales de Cox et Vinnedge, ainsi qu'une reprise de "You Really Got Me" des Kinks. L'artwork de l'album est signé Roger Dean, connu pour ses illustrations pour Yes et Asia.

Billy Cox, an American bassist, is best known for his collaborations with Jimi Hendrix in the Band of Gypsys and Gypsy Sun & Rainbows. After Hendrix's death in 1970, Cox formed the band Billy Cox’s Nitro Function with guitarist/vocalist Char Vinnedge and drummer Robert Tarrant. In 1971, they recorded their sole album, Nitro Function, a blend of psychedelic rock, blues, and soul. The album was produced by Lelan Rogers and features original compositions by Cox and Vinnedge, as well as a cover of "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks. The album's artwork was created by Roger Dean, renowned for his illustrations for Yes and Asia.
