Originaire de Floride, The New Apocalypse est un collectif atypique de la scène underground de la fin des sixties. Leur unique album, Stainless Soul, sorti en 1969 sur le label MTA, mélange audacieusement soul psychédélique, jazz-rock orchestral et pop baroque, avec une section de cuivres très présente. Ce disque quasi-inclassable évoque à la fois Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Electric Flag ou Chicago Transit Authority, avec une touche psyché qui ajoute une saveur subtilement hallucinée. The New Apocalypse was a Florida-based soul-psych ensemble that released just one album, Stainless Soul, in 1969 on MTA Records. The LP is an energetic and genre-blending affair, combining psychedelic soul, jazzy brass arrangements, and baroque pop flourishes. With a large lineup and a focus on big-band energy, the group echoes the sounds of Blood, Sweat & Tears or early Chicago, yet maintains a trippy edge that places it firmly within the psychedelic realm. Though it went unnoticed at the time, Stainless Soul is now a sought-after cult item among crate-diggers and rare groove aficionados.
