Mortimer est un trio vocal new-yorkais formé à la fin des années 60, initialement découvert par le producteur Terry Cashman. Composé de Tom Smith, Tony Van Benschoten et Guy Masson, le groupe incarne la transition douce entre folk harmonique, pop baroque et psychédélisme naissant. Leur album Dedicated Music Man, enregistré en 1968 mais publié de manière confidentielle, témoigne d’un savoir-faire vocal remarquable, dans la veine de Simon & Garfunkel, The Left Banke ou les premiers Bee Gees. Un second album produit par George Harrison pour Apple Records fut annulé, renforçant le statut culte du trio.

Mortimer was a New York vocal trio from the late '60s, discovered and produced by Terry Cashman. Featuring Tom Smith, Tony Van Benschoten, and Guy Masson, the group offered a gentle blend of baroque pop, soft psych, and rich vocal harmonies. Their album Dedicated Music Man, recorded in 1968 and released with little promotion, remains a hidden gem of melodic acid-tinged folk pop. A follow-up album, produced by George Harrison for Apple Records, was sadly shelved, adding to the band’s mystique among collectors.
