Originaire de Cleveland, le groupe Silk sort en 1969 son unique album, Smooth As Raw Silk, sur le label ABC Records. Fondé autour du chanteur Michael Stanley (futur leader du Michael Stanley Band), Silk propose un mélange élégant de rock psychédélique, pop orchestrale et folk rock sophistiqué. Arrangements soignés, harmonies vocales riches et instrumentation variée font de ce disque un parfait exemple de "soft psych" de la fin des sixties, dans la veine de The Left Banke, The Association ou Moby Grape. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Silk released their only album Smooth As Raw Silk in 1969 on ABC Records. Centered around vocalist and songwriter Michael Stanley (who later fronted the Michael Stanley Band), the group delivered a refined blend of psychedelic pop, folk rock, and orchestral textures. The record is characterized by rich vocal harmonies, intricate arrangements, and a smooth yet emotionally resonant sound. Although it flew under the radar at the time, the album has become a sought-after gem among fans of late '60s American psych-pop.
