🇺🇸 Biography (English)
Formed in Dublin by teenage friends Alison Williams (later Bools) and Clodagh Simonds, Mellow Candle released one extraordinary album in 1972 on Deram: Swaddling Songs. Combining dual female vocals with poetic songwriting and complex arrangements, the album blends progressive folk, Celtic balladry, and psychedelic touches. Though largely overlooked upon release, Swaddling Songs has since become a revered classic, with its rare original pressings highly sought after. The band’s unique blend of harmony and musicianship places them alongside Pentangle, Fotheringay and Comus in the canon of British Isles folk-rock.
