Arthur Lee Harper était un auteur-compositeur-interprète américain actif à la fin des années 1960. En 1968, il sort son premier album, Dreams and Images, sous le nom d’Arthur, produit par Lee Hazlewood sur le label LHI Records. Cet album offre un folk psychédélique introspectif, avec une voix douce et des arrangements délicats, minimalistes.

En 1969, Harper autoproduit son deuxième album, Love Is The Revolution, cette fois sous son nom complet. Pressé à seulement 200 exemplaires, l’album est devenu au fil du temps une pièce de collection très recherchée. Les morceaux comme "New Day", "Light Up Your Man", ou encore "Flowers After Childhood" prolongent l’univers mélancolique et dépouillé de son premier opus, entre folk psychédélique et poésie existentielle.

Malgré des critiques favorables, Arthur Lee Harper n’a pas rencontré de succès commercial notable et s’est progressivement retiré de la scène musicale après ces deux albums. En 2002, ses deux œuvres ont été rééditées ensemble, permettant leur redécouverte par une nouvelle génération d’auditeurs.

Arthur Lee Harper was an American singer-songwriter active in the late 1960s. In 1968, he released his debut album, Dreams and Images, under the name Arthur, produced by Lee Hazlewood on LHI Records. The album features introspective psychedelic folk, marked by gentle vocals and sparse arrangements.

In 1969, Harper self-released his second album, Love Is The Revolution, this time under his full name. Limited to just 200 copies, the album became a sought-after collector’s item over the years. Tracks such as "New Day", "Light Up Your Man", and "Flowers After Childhood" continue in the same vein of melancholic folk with stripped-down instrumentation and reflective lyrics.

Despite receiving positive reviews, Harper never achieved commercial success and faded from the music scene after these two records. In 2002, Dreams and Images and Love Is The Revolution were reissued together, allowing a new generation to discover his body of work.
