Jim Pulte est un auteur-compositeur-interprète américain, notamment reconnu pour son travail au sein du groupe Southwind à la fin des années 1960 et au début des années 1970. Originaire de l’Université de l’Oklahoma, Southwind était composé de John Martin (chant et guitare), Jim Pulte (chant et basse), Phil Hope (orgue) et Eric Dalton (batterie). Le groupe s’est forgé une solide réputation avec son mélange de country-rock, de blues et de swamp rock.​

Après la dissolution de Southwind en 1971, Jim Pulte entame une carrière solo. En 1972, il sort son unique album, Out The Window, sous le label United Artists. Produit par Jesse Ed Davis — célèbre guitariste ayant travaillé avec Taj Mahal, George Harrison ou encore John Lennon — l’album propose un savoureux mélange de rock, funk, pop et d’accents « swampy ». Il bénéficie de la participation d’un casting prestigieux : Leland Sklar à la basse, Jim Keltner à la batterie, Ben Sidran aux claviers, et Dr. John au piano. Malgré la qualité de l’album, Out The Window passe inaperçu à sa sortie, mais est depuis devenu un disque culte chez les amateurs de rock américain des années 1970.​

Jim Pulte is an American singer-songwriter best known for his role in the late-1960s/early-1970s group Southwind.Originating from the University of Oklahoma, Southwind featured John Martin (vocals and guitar), Jim Pulte (vocals and bass), Phil Hope (organ), and Eric Dalton (drums). The band earned a strong reputation for its blend of country-rock, blues, and swamp rock.​

Following Southwind’s breakup in 1971, Jim Pulte launched a solo career. In 1972, he released his only solo album, Out The Window, on United Artists Records. Produced by legendary guitarist Jesse Ed Davis — who played with Taj Mahal, George Harrison, and John Lennon — the album fuses rock, funk, and pop with a strong West Coast swamp rock flavor.Pulte was backed by an impressive lineup including Leland Sklar (bass), Jim Keltner (drums), Ben Sidran (keyboards), and Dr. John (piano). Although overlooked at the time of its release, Out The Window has since gained cult status among fans of early ’70s American rock.
