Les Rowan Brothers sont un duo folk rock originaire de Wayland, Massachusetts, formé par les frères Chris et Lorin Rowan. Influencés par des groupes emblématiques tels que les Everly Brothers, les Beatles, et Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, ils se distinguent par leurs harmonies vocales serrées et leur habileté à jouer divers instruments comme la guitare, la mandoline et la flûte.
En 1970, ils déménagent à San Francisco et, en 1971, ils assurent la première partie du groupe légendaire Grateful Deadau Fillmore West, ce qui leur permet de se faire connaître dans la scène musicale californienne. L'année suivante, en 1972, ils publient leur premier album éponyme, The Rowan Brothers, sous le label Columbia Records. Cet album bénéficie de collaborations de choix, notamment avec Jerry Garcia et Bill Kreutzmann du Grateful Dead, et est produit par David Grisman, une figure importante de la scène folk américaine.

Influenced by iconic bands such as The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, they are known for their tight vocal harmonies and their skill with various instruments, including guitar, mandolin, and flute.
In 1970, they moved to San Francisco and, in 1971, they opened for Grateful Dead at the Fillmore West, gaining exposure within the vibrant California music scene. In 1972, they released their self-titled debut album, The Rowan Brothers, under the Columbia Records label. The album features notable collaborations with Jerry Garcia and Bill Kreutzmann of Grateful Dead, and was produced by David Grisman, a key figure in the American folk scene.
