Lionhart était un groupe de rock originaire de Houston, Texas, actif au milieu des années 1970. Formé autour de musiciens talentueux issus de la scène rock locale, le groupe se composait de Gary McClatchy (chant), Don Hubbard(guitare), Jon Wesley (basse) et Bernie Pershey (batterie). Ce dernier est également connu pour avoir plus tard rejoint d'autres formations notables comme Trilogy et Iron Butterfly.

En 1977, le groupe sort son unique album éponyme, "Lionhart", sous le petit label indépendant Hutch Productions. L’album, long d’environ 41 minutes, propose une fusion de hard rock et de rock progressif, mêlant guitares musclées, lignes de basse puissantes et envolées vocales. Parmi les titres les plus emblématiques figurent "Long Legged Lover", "Lost My Dreams Again", et "Dragon Lady".

Malgré une exécution solide et une énergie palpable, l’album passe relativement inaperçu à sa sortie, en raison d’une production limitée et d’une distribution restreinte. Il est aujourd’hui considéré comme une rareté parmi les amateurs de vinyles obscurs des années 1970, recherché pour son authenticité et son charme brut.

Lionhart was a rock band from Houston, Texas, active in the mid-1970s. The lineup featured Gary McClatchy on vocals, Don Hubbard on guitar, Jon Wesley on bass, and Bernie Pershey on drums—who later became known for his work with Trilogy and Iron Butterfly.

In 1977, the band released their self-titled debut and only album, "Lionhart", under the independent label Hutch Productions. Clocking in at approximately 41 minutes, the album blends hard rock and progressive rock with passionate vocals, searing guitar solos, and dynamic rhythms. Standout tracks include "Long Legged Lover", "Lost My Dreams Again", and "Dragon Lady".

Despite the quality of the recording and musicianship, Lionhart remained under the radar due to limited production and distribution. Today, the album has gained cult status among collectors of rare 1970s vinyl, valued for its raw sound and underground appeal.
