Projet ésotérique et éphémère autour du compositeur et producteur américain Michael Pluznick, Touchstone publie en 1971 un unique album instrumental inspiré par les arcanes majeurs du tarot. Sobrement intitulé Tarot, ce disque rare combine jazz fusion, psychédélisme, rock progressif et touches orientalisantes, dans une atmosphère contemplative presque mystique. Chaque piste évoque une carte du tarot et explore une ambiance propre à son symbolisme. Pluznick, percussionniste de formation, y déploie une large palette d’instruments ethniques aux côtés de musiciens de studio anonymes. Longtemps ignoré, cet album conceptuel est aujourd’hui prisé pour sa beauté étrange et son originalité hors normes.

Touchstone was a short-lived musical project led by percussionist and composer Michael Pluznick, who released Tarotin 1971 as a concept album centered around the Major Arcana of the Tarot. Entirely instrumental, the record weaves elements of jazz fusion, psychedelic rock, Eastern textures, and progressive atmospheres to create a meditative soundscape. Each track corresponds to a Tarot card, evoking its symbolism through rich instrumentation and subtle arrangements. Rare and initially overlooked, Tarot has since become a cult favorite among collectors of esoteric and experimental 1970s music.
