Avec Get Ready, Rare Earth inaugure en 1969 un mariage inédit entre le rock psychédélique blanc et la soul noire de Detroit. Premier groupe signé par Motown sur son sous-label éponyme, Rare Earth frappe fort avec cette relecture électrisante du tube des Temptations, prolongée ici en une version jam de plus de 21 minutes. L’album, qui mêle compositions originales et reprise longue durée, révèle la fougue scénique du groupe, sa rythmique musclée et ses cuivres déchaînés. Véritable déclaration d’intention, ce disque ouvre la voie à une soul-rock à la croisée des mondes.

With Get Ready, released in 1969, Rare Earth boldly fused white psychedelic rock with Detroit’s signature soul. As the first white band signed to a Motown imprint—Rare Earth Records—the group made a major statement with their extended, explosive cover of The Temptations' Get Ready, stretched to over 21 minutes of groove-heavy jamming. The album combines originals and that massive reinterpretation, showcasing tight rhythms, gritty vocals, and funky instrumentation. It marked the dawn of a new hybrid sound: soulful, raw, and unfiltered.
