Originaire de Lincoln, Nebraska, Stephen Miller est un chanteur-compositeur américain dont l’unique album solo, paru en 1970 sur le label Ampex, s’inscrit dans la mouvance folk rock teintée de country, de gospel et de soul. Avant cette aventure personnelle, Miller avait été membre du groupe The Serfs, reconnu pour son groove jazzy et ses influences rhythm'n'blues. Stephen Miller, hailing from Lincoln, Nebraska, was the lead vocalist and keyboardist for the jazz-rock group The Serfsbefore embarking on a brief solo career. His lone self-titled album, released in 1970 on Ampex Records, blends elements of folk, soul, gospel, and country into a cohesive and soulful Americana sound. Drawing comparisons to artists like Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, and Van Morrison, Miller’s rich voice and heartfelt delivery elevate the material beyond standard singer-songwriter fare. Though overlooked upon release, the album has since found a cult following among fans of rootsy, early-70s American rock.
