The Stampeders, hailing from Calgary, Alberta, were a Canadian rock trio best known for their 1971 smash hit Sweet City Woman. Blending rock, country, and boogie with radio-friendly hooks, the band carved out a distinctive place in early '70s Canadian music. Their 1973 album From the Fire shows a more refined sound, mixing rootsy ballads and harder-edged rock with confident arrangements. Rich Dodson’s warm vocals and catchy guitar riffs, along with tight vocal harmonies, give the record its heart.
