Premier album éponyme du trio originaire de l’Ohio, Glass Harp (1970) marque l’entrée en scène d’un jeune prodige de la guitare : Phil Keaggy. À seulement 19 ans, il déploie un jeu d’une maturité et d’une virtuosité remarquables, entre rock psychédélique, ballades lyriques et élans jazz-rock. Soutenu par une section rythmique solide, Glass Harp propose un son à la croisée de The Beatles, Santana et The Allman Brothers, alternant douceur contemplative et improvisations énergiques. Ce premier disque, bien que moins expérimental que leurs prestations scéniques, révèle déjà un sens mélodique fin et une grande cohésion instrumentale.

Glass Harp’s self-titled debut album (1970) introduced the Ohio-based power trio led by guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy. At just 19, Keaggy’s dazzling technique and emotional depth stood out, blending psych-rock, melodic pop, and jazzy textures. The album showcases a range of moods—from tender acoustic passages to extended instrumental workouts—while maintaining a spiritual undercurrent and lyrical sophistication. Though more structured than their later live improvisations, this studio effort already hinted at the creative scope of a band with both heart and chops.
