Paru en novembre 1974, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway est un double album conceptuel ambitieux et énigmatique qui marque le sommet créatif — mais aussi la fin — de l’ère Peter Gabriel au sein de Genesis. Racontant l’odyssée hallucinée de Rael, un jeune Portoricain new-yorkais, l’album mêle rock progressif, expérimentation sonore et narration surréaliste. Released in November 1974, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is Genesis’s only full concept album and Peter Gabriel’s final studio contribution before his departure. Spanning two LPs, it follows the surreal journey of Rael, a young New York City street kid, through a series of bizarre and often allegorical events. Musically diverse and lyrically dense, the album blends progressive rock with experimental textures. Despite internal conflicts during its production, it remains a landmark in both the band’s history and the broader prog rock landscape.
