Formé en 1967 sous le nom de Kaleidoscope, le groupe britannique change de nom en 1970 pour devenir Fairfield Parlour après avoir été abandonné par leur label Fontana. Sous ce nouveau nom, ils signent avec Vertigo Records et publient leur unique album studio, From Home to Home, le 14 août 1970. Cet album marque une évolution vers un rock progressif plus raffiné, tout en conservant des éléments psychédéliques et folk.
L'album est produit par David Symonds et se distingue par ses compositions poétiques, ses arrangements soignés et l'utilisation d'instruments tels que le mellotron, le clavecin et la flûte. Formed in 1967 as Kaleidoscope, the British band changed their name to Fairfield Parlour in 1970 after being dropped by their label Fontana. Under this new name, they signed with Vertigo Records and released their only studio album, From Home to Home, on August 14, 1970. This album marks a shift towards more refined progressive rock, while retaining psychedelic and folk elements.
The album was produced by David Symonds and stands out for its poetic compositions, meticulous arrangements, and the use of instruments like the mellotron, harpsichord, and flute. Although the album did not achieve significant commercial success, it is now regarded as a hidden gem of British progressive rock, cherished by collectors and enthusiasts of the genre.
