`Too often overlooked or only in summary status of Carl Palmer band before ELP, Atomic Rooster yet produced one of the most attractive music beginning of the seventy years. Its two founders are from the ephemeral Crazy World of Athur Brown, logically they perpetuate the theatricality and exuberance. However, the group still seems to inherit more of the most mixed section of the psychedelic scene, embodied especially by Sly & the Family Stone and Jimi Hendrix, he fits perfectly effusions in the new decade. It differs from its rivals pioneers of rock and convoluted supported by its very pronounced groove and irresistible willingly sparking the use of the term "heavy soul". This brilliant combination of hard rock and funk is centered on jingles keyboardist Vincent Crane. Less daring and spectacular than his rival Keith Emerson, it never individualizes to the detriment of the collective, groove and melody. It also reveals much better composer and offers a certainly limited discography, but very consistent.

Trop souvent négligé ou résumé au seul statut du groupe de Carl Palmer avant ELP, Atomic Rooster produit pourtant l’une des musiques les plus attrayantes du début des années soixante-dix. Ses deux fondateurs étant issus de l’éphémère Crazy World of Athur Brown, ils en perpétuent logiquement le théâtralisme et l’exubérance. Cependant, le groupe semble hériter encore davantage de la frange la plus métissée de la scène psychédélique, incarnée notamment par Sly & the Family Stone et Jimi Hendrix, dont il adapte à merveille les effusions à la nouvelle décennie. Il se distingue de ses rivaux pionniers du rock appuyé et alambiqué par son groove très prononcé et irrésistible suscitant volontiers l’emploi de l’expression « heavy soul ». Cette combinaison brillante de hard rock et de funk est centrée sur les ritournelles du claviériste Vincent Crane. Moins audacieux et spectaculaire que son rival Keith Emerson, celui-ci ne s’individualise jamais au détriment du collectif, du groove et de la mélodie. Il se révèle également bien meilleur compositeur et offre ainsi une discographie certes limitée, mais très consistante.
