Quickly forgotten, rarely exhumed within the accommodative rock scene of the early seventies years Stories can nevertheless boast a precious and very consistent catalog, even if it contains only three albums. This first single album mixes the classical-baroque influences of Michael Brown to the more rustic aspirations Ian Lloyd whose scuffed and slender song reminiscent of Rod Stewart and more winded. The relative weakness of all is compensated by the beauty of the songs that clearly distinguishes the music of many contemporary Californian and apathetic impulses. The public is not yet allowed to be convinced by this rock strain and this splendid collection of tunes, notably because of a made too dull sound.
Rapidement oubliés, rarement exhumés au sein de la scène rock accommodante du début des années soixante-dix, les Stories peuvent pourtant se vanter d’un catalogue précieux et très consistant, même si celui-ci ne contient que trois albums. Ce premier album singulier mêle les influences classico-baroques de Michael Brown aux aspirations plus rustiques de Ian Lloyd dont le chant éraillé et fluet rappelle celui de Rod Stewart en plus poussif. La relative mollesse de l’ensemble est compensée par la beauté des chansons qui distingue nettement cette musique des nombreux élans apathiques californiens et contemporains. Le public ne se laisse pourtant pas convaincre par ce rock de souche et cette splendide collection de mélodies, notamment en raison d’un rendu sonore trop terne.
