Après le monumental Jailbreak, Thin Lizzy reprend la direction des studios en octobre 1976 pour enregistrer Johnny The Fox. Phil Lynott est un touche à tout, un artiste écorché vif, aussi à l'aise dans les arrangements uniques de sa musique que dans l’écriture poétique de ses chansons. Considéré comme un visionnaire pour l’époque, son univers musical est rempli d’éclectisme (folk celtique, rock, blues, rythm and blues, reggae, hard rock, soul, pop, funk...) Ce nouvel disque est différent de Jailbreak, plus obscur, plus profond, une sorte de concept album, un conte tragique et désespéré, rempli de mythologie celtique et d'expériences personnelles, presque une auto-biographie du renégat irlandais.

Johnny The Fox est le cinquième album studio de Thin Lizzy, sorti en 1976. Cet album marque une étape importante dans l’évolution du groupe irlandais, mêlant hard rock, rock celtique et une touche de blues. Phil Lynott, leader charismatique, y raconte des histoires de personnages marginaux avec une écriture acérée et sensible. On y retrouve des titres phares comme « Don’t Believe a Word » et la chanson-titre « Johnny The Fox ». After the monumental Jailbreak Thin Lizzy took over the management of the studios in October 1976 to save Johnny The Fox. Phil Lynott is a key to everything, a hypersensitive artist, equally at home in the unique arrangements of his music in poetic writing of his songs. Considered a visionary for the time, his musical universe is filled with eclectic (Celtic folk, rock, blues, rhythm and blues, reggae, hard rock, soul, pop, funk ...) This new drive is different from Jailbreak , darker, deeper, a sort of concept album, a tragic and desperate tale, full of Celtic mythology and personal experiences, almost a renegade Irish autobiography.

Released in 1976, Johnny The Fox is Thin Lizzy’s fifth studio album, showcasing the Irish band’s blend of hard rock, Celtic influences, and bluesy undertones. Frontman Phil Lynott crafts vivid narratives about outsiders and rogues with sharp, heartfelt lyrics.
