Rhinoceros is a supergroup formed in late 1960 by Electra Records. The project to gather in a group fabricated promising young musicians is led originally by Paul Rothchild (producer of The Doors) and Frazier Mohawk (manager of Buffalo Springfield). Following the first auditions, conducted end of 1967, the two producers hold guitarists Doug Hastings and Danny Weis (ex-Iron Butterfly), keyboardist Alan Gerber and singer John Finley. The group adopted the name Rhinoceros and began recording a debut album, produced by Rothchild. The results are disappointing: Rhino reaches only 115th on the Billboard ranking. Their music is nevertheless very interesting and representative rock stream the late sixties with an atmosphere similar to that of Steppenwolf.
The ballad that closes the album, 'Will Serenade You', will become a pipe in the hands of Three Dog Night in 1973.Rhinoceros est un supergroupe constitué à la fin des années 1960 par le label Electra Records. Les résultats sont décevants : Rhinocéros n'atteint que la 115e place du classement Billboard. Leur musique est pourtant fort intéressante et très représentative du courant rock de la fin des sixties avec une ambiance proche de celle de Steppenwolf.
La ballade qui clôture l'album, 'Will Sérénade You', deviendra un tube entre les mains de Three Dog Night en 1973.
