Orange Peel est un groupe allemand éphémère formé à Hanau au tout début des années 1970, considéré comme un pionnier du rock progressif et psychédélique germanique. Leur unique album, éponyme, publié en 1970 sur le label Bellaphon, est un brûlot instrumental et lysergique. Alliant l’énergie brute du hard rock à des envolées jazz rock et psychédéliques, le disque évoque parfois Vanilla Fudge, Deep Purple ou encore les prémices de Guru Guru. Dominé par l’orgue survolté de Curt Cress (futur Passport et Klaus Doldinger) et les longues improvisations, Orange Peel reste un témoignage vibrant de la scène underground allemande pré-Krautrock.

Orange Peel was a short-lived German rock band formed in Hanau in the early 1970s. Their self-titled album, released in 1970 on Bellaphon, is an explosive mix of heavy psychedelic rock, early prog, and jazz-inflected jams. Dominated by fiery Hammond organ lines and extended instrumental passages, Orange Peel recalls the raw power of Vanilla Fudge, early Deep Purple, and the improvisational spirit of emerging Krautrock. Though the band dissolved shortly after the album’s release, their lone record has since become a cult classic among collectors of early German progressive and psych rock.
