Chanteur britannique à la voix puissante et gorgée de soul, Jackie Lomax est surtout connu pour avoir été l’un des tout premiers artistes produits sur le label Apple Records des Beatles. Après un passage dans The Undertakers et une brève carrière aux États-Unis, il enregistre Is This What You Want? en 1968 avec George Harrison à la production, épaulé par un casting prestigieux (Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Nicky Hopkins…). Mélange flamboyant de rock, de soul blanche et de psychédélisme cuivré, cet album reste une perle méconnue de la pop britannique post-Sgt. Pepper. Malgré ses qualités, il ne rencontrera pas le succès espéré. Un disque gorgé d’énergie et d’élégance, porté par une voix exceptionnelle.

Jackie Lomax was a British singer with a soulful, gritty voice and one of the earliest signings to The Beatles' Apple Records. Formerly with The Undertakers, Lomax recorded Is This What You Want? in 1968 under the production of George Harrison, who also contributed guitar work. The album features a stellar lineup including Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, and Nicky Hopkins. It's an energetic blend of British rock, soul, and psychedelic flourishes, particularly brassy and bold in its arrangements. Though critically acclaimed, the record failed commercially, but has since gained cult status as one of Apple Records' finest hidden gems.
