Chamaeleon Church est un groupe psychédélique américain fondé à Boston en 1967 autour de Alan Lorber, producteur visionnaire de la "Bosstown Sound", et de Chevy Chase, futur acteur comique célèbre, ici batteur et vocaliste. Leur unique album, Chamaeleon Church, sort en 1968 chez MGM et incarne l’esthétique psyché-pop de la scène de Boston, dans la lignée des Ultimate Spinach, Beacon Street Union ou Orpheus. L’album est une fusion de mélodies rêveuses, d’arrangements baroques, de sitars discrets et d’effets studio inventifs. Malgré l’ambition artistique et le potentiel commercial, le projet fait un flop commercial et reste un témoignage charmant mais oublié de la tentative de la côte Est de concurrencer le psychédélisme californien.

Chamaeleon Church was a short-lived American psychedelic pop band formed in Boston in 1967. Spearheaded by producer Alan Lorber as part of the "Bosstown Sound" marketing push, the group featured a young Chevy Chase on drums and vocals, years before his rise to comedy stardom. Their self-titled 1968 album, released by MGM, blends dreamy psych-pop, baroque arrangements, light fuzz guitar, and studio experimentation. Though musically accomplished and well-produced, Chamaeleon Church failed commercially and remains a curious relic of the East Coast’s answer to the West Coast psychedelic wave.
