Originaire du Colorado, Hardwater publie en 1968 un unique album éponyme sous la houlette du célèbre duo de producteurs Gary Usher et Curt Boettcher, figures emblématiques du rock psychédélique californien. Le groupe, composé d'anciens membres de The Astronauts, propose un mélange subtil de folk-rock, harmonies vocales ciselées et arrangements psyché typiques de l’époque. Si l’ensemble évoque parfois les Byrds ou Buffalo Springfield, l’album brille surtout par sa finesse mélodique et sa production soignée. Peu médiatisé à sa sortie, Hardwater reste aujourd’hui une perle oubliée du psychédélisme léger de la côte Ouest.

Hardwater, hailing from Colorado and composed of former members of The Astronauts, released their sole album in 1968 under the direction of producers Gary Usher and Curt Boettcher. This self-titled LP blends soft psychedelia, folk-rock influences, and rich vocal harmonies reminiscent of The Byrds and Moby Grape. Enhanced by Boettcher’s lush arrangements, the album delivers a subtle, melodic journey through late-60s West Coast sounds. Though it slipped under the radar at the time, it is now considered a hidden gem of harmony-laden psychedelic rock.
