Group Therapy est un groupe éphémère de la scène psyché-rock new-yorkaise de la fin des années 60, peu connu du grand public mais prisé des collectionneurs. Leur premier album People Get Ready (1967) propose une fusion audacieuse de rock psychédélique, soul, rhythm and blues et pop orchestrée. Mêlant cuivres puissants, harmonies vocales enflammées et groove contagieux, le disque oscille entre des reprises percutantes et des compositions originales, le tout porté par une production brillante signée Jerry Goldstein (producteur notamment pour War et Sly Stone). Ce melting-pot musical, bien que peu médiatisé à sa sortie, témoigne d’une époque d’expérimentation et d’énergie brute.

Group Therapy was a short-lived yet compelling psych-rock band from New York, active during the late 1960s. Their debut LP People Get Ready (1967), released on Smash Records, is a bold blend of psychedelic rock, R&B, orchestrated pop, and soul. With punchy brass arrangements, rich vocal layers, and gritty instrumentation, the album reflects the eclectic spirit of the time. Producer Jerry Goldstein infused the record with a tight, radio-ready sound. Though it flew under the radar commercially, the album has since become a rare gem among vintage collectors and enthusiasts of crossover psychedelic soul.
