Originaires de New York, The Druids of Stonehenge se forment en 1965 dans la mouvance R&B garage avant de s’orienter vers une formule plus psychédélique avec l’album Creation, enregistré à Los Angeles et publié en 1968 chez Uni Records. Le groupe, mené par le chanteur David Budge, propose un rock sombre, fiévreux, où s’entrelacent reprises et compositions originales. Le disque, marqué par une atmosphère dense et introspective, mêle fuzz, orgue, chant hanté et tension électrique, dans la lignée de The Doors, The Pretty Things ou The Music Machine. Un témoignage brut et envoûtant de la scène psyché américaine tardive.

Formed in New York in 1965, The Druids of Stonehenge began as a gritty R&B garage outfit before evolving into a darker, more psychedelic sound by the time they recorded Creation in Los Angeles. Released in 1968 on Uni Records, the album blends moody vocals, fuzz-drenched guitars, swirling organ, and brooding atmospheres. Led by vocalist David Budge, the band offers a mix of original material and covers, channeling a style reminiscent of The Doors, The Seeds, and The Electric Prunes. Though overlooked in its day, Creation has since become a cult classic of American late-’60s psych rock.
