Après leur premier opus psychédélique chez Columbia, Aorta, groupe originaire de Chicago, opère un virage prononcé vers le country-rock teinté de spiritualité chrétienne avec Aorta 2, sorti en 1970 sur Happy Tiger Records. Le line-up évolue, avec l’arrivée de Michael Been sur basse et chant, tandis que Jim Donlinger et Jim Nyeholt restent aux manettes. Exit les guitares psychédéliques crues : l'album privilégie des orchestrations plus douces, riffs twangy, harmonies soignées et paroles introspectives. Following their debut on Columbia, Chicago’s Aorta shifted gears with Aorta 2 in 1970, embracing a country-rock direction tinted with personal and spiritual themes. Featuring new member Michael Been on bass and vocals, and featuring tightly arranged tunes like Willie Jean, Little Bonnie, and Beg For His Forgiveness, the album departs from their psychedelic roots and favors warmth, melody, and reflective lyrics
