Formé autour du guitar hero Leslie West et du producteur-bassiste Felix Pappalardi, Mountain est l’un des groupes phares du hard rock américain du début des années 70. Avalanche, leur quatrième album studio, est le dernier à réunir le noyau fondateur du groupe. Plus heavy que jamais, l’album mêle blues rugueux, riffs puissants et quelques titres plus mélodiques. On y retrouve la patte vocale rocailleuse de West et la production dense et granitique signée Pappalardi. Une œuvre musclée et sans concessions, marquant la fin d’une époque pour Mountain.

Mountain, co-founded by guitarist Leslie West and producer-bassist Felix Pappalardi, made a name in the early '70s with their blend of hard rock and blues. Avalanche (1974) is the band’s fourth studio album and the last with the original core lineup. Showcasing their signature sound — thunderous riffs, gritty vocals, and heavy blues-rock — this record features a mix of powerful originals and covers, including a fiery version of "Satisfaction." It's a fitting swan song for this influential incarnation of the band.
